Notable facts

Origin

Ramón Peña's cannery dates to around 1920 in Galicia's Rías Baixas — some sources place its origin in Cambados — and by 1993 had passed to its third generation, Conservas Hijos de Ramón Peña, S.L., who repositioned the brand toward higher-end, more selective production; the factory was rebuilt with modern equipment in 1998. The company's works today sit in the Salnés industrial estate in Ribadumia, Pontevedra.

The range runs from the brand's signature small gold-tin sardinillas through a Padrón-pepper variant, stewed "Xoubas" (in both Gold and Silver line editions), hand-caught "Sardinas do Xeito" in several sizes including a smoked version, and skinless, boneless fillets — nearly all sold under the premium Gold Line that defines the brand.
