Notable facts

Origin

La Belle-Iloise's story began in 1932 in the port of Quiberon, on Brittany's Atlantic coast. The company describes its history as a continuous family story — passed "from father to son, brother to brother, father to daughter, colleague to colleague" — that remains firmly anchored in Quiberon nearly a century later.

The brand became known for its distinctive, colourful retro-style tins and, unusually for a French sardine maker, for building its own nationwide network of boutiques rather than relying mainly on supermarket shelves. Its current sardine range is organised into several families — Classics, Specialities, Boneless, Flaked, Spreads, dishes meant to be served hot, and mixed assortments — spanning oils from olive to peanut to churned butter, alongside lemon, herb, and spiced preparations.
